Virtual Sessions provide training on Leadership and Revenue Generation for Athletic Administrators

BOSCA announced today that registration is now open for the fall 2024 cohorts of the BOSCA Leadership Academy and BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy.

BOSCA Academies are designed to bring learning opportunities to administrators in a convenient virtual format. Unlike conventions that compress learning opportunities into a few days, BOSCA academies take place over 2-3 months giving participants opportunities to digest class information and develop questions for follow up. Academy cohorts have 20 or fewer participants allowing for an intimate learning environment and multiple opportunities to network and interact with other administrators enrolled in each class.

“We emphasize building skills and expanding understanding in the academies, said BOSCA Founder Jim Abbott.” “The cohorts are relatively small which allows plenty of opportunities for questions and interactions and class sessions are spread out over a semester.” “Most importantly, you don’t have to wait several months for the next convention, which may or may not fit into your budget or have programming that is relevant to you.”

The BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy focuses on building the skills and programs necessary to create sustainable external revenue generation programs for small college athletic departments. The academy provides a comprehensive look at revenue generation and provides examples of ways to build successful approaches.

“The BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy is an amazing resource,” said Casey Lish, Sr. Assoc. AD for External Relations at West Texas A&M University. “Regardless of the current situation your institution is in when it comes to generating revenue, this academy provides valuable information that can benefit any athletic department. Jim and John have years of experience and do a great job of leading this academy and incorporating guest speakers with proven success that give you access to immediate takeaways that can have a positive impact at your institution. I highly recommend the BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy to any small college athletic program.”

The BOSCA Leadership Academy is designed to expedite the growth and development of collegiate athletic leaders and better prepare them to navigate the challenges of leading an athletic department. The academy combines a broad overview of skills and approaches necessary for success with practical examples and materials that participants can utilize.

“The BOSCA Leadership Academy gave me the tools I needed to successfully transition into the AD chair, said Mark Shook, athletic director at Kentucky Wesleyan College.” Jim Abbott & John Phillips are leaders in our field that provided our cohort ideas, advice, and materials that were practical and useful in helping shape some of my early plans as AD. I’d recommend this to anyone in our profession who wants to fortify their toolbox – and make life-long career friends in the process.”

Space in each academy is limited to 20 participants and includes five (5) virtual sessions, academy curricular materials, engagement with BOSCA guest faculty, and access to BOSCA collateral materials. Cohorts for each academy begin in September, 2024.  For more information visit https://www.smallcollegeathletics.com/leadership or contact Jim Abbott at (405) 208-9133 or jim@smallcollegeathletics.com
